you can maintain the station program schedule by adding or deleting shows from timeslots on a weekly calendar. you can see a weekly breakdown of timeslots for each half-hour in a table format. each table cell time slot will have a
in the above example you can see 2 shows and some empty slots: |

1. click on the you will have to set the duration of each show you are adding. this means that if you add a show that lasts two hours, it will "drag accross" 4 table cells, since each table cell represents a half hour. WARNING: check the look of the table after each addition of a show. if after adding a show the table structure looks "screwed up", it is possible that you have OVERLAPPING SHOW TIMES. in this case delete the shows that you suspect cause this and re-add them making sure the ending and starting times don't overlap. (there is no show from 2PM to 5PM and one from 4PM to 6PM...) NOTE: a day starts with midnight. if a show goes past midnight (11PM - 2AM) then you have to add them twice: once from 11PM to 12PM on one day and once from 12PM to 2AM on the next day. 2. after you are all done and the program schedule looks how it should, click the "Make this static HTML" button so that listeners will see a fast static HTML page. NOTE: when you are constructing the program schedule you are working with a dynamic ASP page that is quite slow since it connects to the data base and dynamically constructs the page after each of your updates. this is TOO SLOW for regular viewers to look at frequently, so you can convert this to a static HTML page by clicking on this button. static HTML pages have no complexity (other than the browser having to display a complex table structure) and display relatively fast. WARNING: once you made a final dynamic version static, push this button after each update to the schedule to reflect your changes on the static page. |

|
after you assigned all your shows to the right timeslots and made the page "static", your listeners will be able to link to the static version of your program schedule from your station's detail page.
WARNING: static HTML pages are cached by the browser. this means that even after you made your updates static, your listeners can still see the old version of the program schedule. the old version can either EXPIRE or they can press SHIFT-RELOAD (hold down the SHIFT key while pressing the RELOAD or REFRESH button on the browser) on their browser to force a refresh of the page. |
