how did you get here?

what can you do here?

how can you do it?

what's next?

how did you get here:

you must be a registered listener and you clicked on the "view calendar of favorits" link on the "listener" page.

what can you do here:

  • you can view a calendar of events of your favorit bands - the bands you added to your favorits collection - so that you don't miss as many good shows you did not know about and bands get people show up on their gigs who care about their music.  this should answer the question: "I want to see a good show; I wonder if any of those cool bands I heard on my favorit stations play in my metro area these days???"

  • you can also add your own events by clicking on the "Update" link on the calendar.  these events added by you will show up on your calendar of favorits, and since they will be valid events, they will also show up on anyone else's favorits calendar who have the band of the event you entered in their favorits collection!!!

WARNING: no event entered by any listener will ever show up on any station music calendar, UNLESS a DJ from that station chooses that event to be on that station's calendar!  stations do not have favorits lists...

NOTE: if you enter crap or bs events, it will likely show up only on your own calendar.  however if you enter an event of a valid band others "dig" as well, then they will know about the event if it is in their current metro area.  (people can change their metro area by clicking on the "change your password/metro area" link on the listener page...)

NOTE: events are universal.  anyone can see them if they care about the band of the event.  when you are adding an event, you might be also creating a new band in the system.  this is a lot of flexibility for the average user.  later on in the future we might find that certain individuals are screwing with the system and entering false bands and events.  if this becomes a serious issue, we might need to change the system to only allow station DJs to enter new bands and events directly into the system.  hopefully this will not be the case and grapefruitmusic can serve as a true community for those with more refined taste...

    how can you do it:

  • adding events - if you want to add your own events, click on the "Update" link on the calendar.  this will refresh your calendar with the image within each day's cell.  you can then click on the day's image where you want to add an event.  you will be taken through the process of adding a calendar event.  if you will need help during this process, click for help on the particular page in question.

  • viewing event details - when looking on the calendar month, days when there are any favorits events/concerts will be highlighted and will have a brief list of event links.  you can then click to view more detailed info on the day's link or on specific events' links - just like when you are viewing a "station's music calendar"...

  • navigating in time - if you are not looking at the right month, you can navigate to it.   the calendar defaults to the current month.  you can navigate to another month by:
    • clicking on the Previous Month or Next Month icons on the header of the calendar

    • picking the date from the dropdown boxes, then pushing the "Submit" button:

  •

    what's next:

click on the links to find out more detail about events.  if you are adding an event, you will be taken through the process of adding a calendar event - this will take you through many steps, but it should be fairly quick and friendly, especially if you have gone through this a couple of times.
